It seemed like a good idea way back in 1930: Use the resources of a tiny 2-person machine shop to fabricate parts for friends in the elevator trades who couldn’t get replacement parts fast enough from the major elevator companies. And it was.
Adams Manufacturing quickly established itself as
the go-to resource for elevator mechanics who needed
parts fast. Armed with a growing force of skilled
employees and a plant filled with machine tools, Adams
Manufacturing evolved into Adams Elevator Equipment
Company and we never looked back. It
soon led the way as the nation’s leading manufacturer
and distributor of quality replacement parts for all
major brands of elevators and escalators. The
product line grew to include elevator fixtures and
components, polyurethane rollers, safety equipment,
elevator and escalator handrail, power tools, instruments,
and hydraulic oils: the broadest product selection
around.
As the business grew in size and reputation, it got
the attention of Westinghouse Elevator. Since
many of their mechanics already were buying parts from
Adams, it seemed a good business decision to buy the
shop in 1982. Then,
when Westinghouse decided to divest itself of its elevator
holdings in 1989, it sold Adams to Europe’s largest
elevator company, Schindler Elevator Corporation.
For most of its history, the Adams style of doing
business has been the most-copied business model in
the industry. No one, however, can duplicate
the personalized service and parts reliability that
have helped build the Adams reputation. Adams became
the standard. Pages
from Adams’ catalogs
have appeared in the catalogs of copycat competitors; some
suppliers compared themselves to Adams
to enhance their images; and still others targeted
Adams’ benchmark performance as achievements
to be surpassed. Today, Adams is still the standard
by which all other parts manufacturers and suppliers
are measured.
Consider these operating statistics: Nearly 50,000 different SKU’s are on hand in our 150,000-sq.-ft. facility. Every month, Adams ships an average of 24,000 line items...12,500 orders. And even with this staggering volume, we ship 98% of all orders on the day they are received.
What does this mean for you? It means that you
can make no better decision for your business than
to trust your repair and maintenance requirements to
Adams Elevator. Our large size notwithstanding,
no one takes better care of you. Quality parts,
friendly and knowledgeable service, fast delivery...all
backed by a no-nonsense guarantee of satisfaction. These
things all add up to the kind of company you can depend
on. We know what it takes to keep elevators and
escalators moving safely.
You can confidently make Adams your first—and only—call for all your parts needs. |
